Honors Biology Course Objective:
This is an introductory Biology course. Major concepts to learn will include the nature of biology, the importance of water for life processes, enzymes, organic molecules, cell structure and function, active and passive transport, mitosis, meiosis, complex inheritance patterns, DNA replication, mutations, genetics, evolution, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, heredity, classification and ecology. Additionally, the course will include a study of the six kingdoms of living organisms, their structure and functions, and their ancestral relationships. Students will investigate biology concepts through experience in laboratories and field work using the processes of inquiry.
